Built in 1649 under the direction of Baldassare Longhena, who died before the achievement of the construction, the palace was bought by the Rezzonico family in 1687. It was then completed in 1751 by Giorgio Massari. The decoration was executed by great artists such as Giambattista Crosato, Pietro Visconti, Giambattista Tiepolo. The richness of the decorations and the collection began with the election of Carlo Rezzonico to be pope Clement XIII. After many transactions, the palace became the residence of the English writer Robert Browning. It became one of Venice's properties in 1935.
