Started in the XVIIth century by the architect Bullet de Chamblain for the lord Renouard de la Touane, the construction of the chateau de Champs-sur-Marne was carried on by Paul Poisson de Bourvallais, arrested because of misappropriation of funds, who saw the estate go into the hands of the princess of Conti, legitimate daughter of Louis XIV.

Voltaire lived there as well as the marquise de Pompadour then the château was restored in the XIXth century by Louis Cahen d?Anvers. Buildings, decorations and landscapes recovered their original splendour thanks to him.

The estate was given in 1935 by Louis Cahen d?Anvers's son to the French State who made of it the residence for foreign heads of state.

The park "à la française", rebuilt in the XIXth century by Duchêne in accordance with Desgots's plan will seduce you with its charming platforms, artificial pools and fountains.
