The former Paris Citroân factory in the 15th arrondissement, on the banks of the Seine, was converted following its closure into a huge particularly nice public park, inaugurated in 1992. The park's project managers were the landscape gardeners Gilles Clément and Alain Provost, the architects Patrick Berger, Jean-François Jodry and Jean-Paul Viguier. The park extends over 13 hectares on the edge of the Seine and has lush vegetation and aquatic arrangements. An 800 metre straight line runs through the park diagonally, constantly changing its appearance (crossing expanses of water, lawns, bamboos, stairways, etc.) Two greenhouses at the north-east end contain exotic and Mediterranean plants, surrounding fountains. Lower down is an artificial isle. There are also forests of bamboo. The park is home to the Eutelsat balloon, which allows one to go up in the air and thus take in an aerial view of Paris.
