Pont Alexandre III

|
Without doubt, this is the most beautiful bridge in Paris. The Alexandre III bridge was built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900. It was designed by Resal and Alby, and owes it name to the Czar of Russia whose son Nicholas II laid the first stone of the bridge in 1896. On each side of the bridge, there are two pillars topped with a statue of Pegasus, the winged horse, which represent peace for the right bank of the river and war for the left bank. The parapets of the bridge are decorated with 32 bronze candelabra. The arch measures 107 metres in height.
