This road pays tribute to one of the most generous residents of Montmartre. Very moved by the poverty-stricken children of Paris, Poulbot decided to look after them by having a dispensary built in Montmartre on land given by the Pomponette restaurant. His wish was to lodge and feed the poor children of Montmartre. His protégés were also nicknamed "the little Poulbots." The philanthropist had great success with the small posters he drew, depicting these little street urchins.
