As one of the main roads of the capital, it goes through the heart of Paris, on the right bank of the Seine, extending Rue Saint-Antoine and ending at Place de la Concorde. The road owes its name to one of Bonapart's victories over the Austrians. One section of the road is well-known for its ready-to-wear clothes shops. There is also the famous shop La Samaritaine, presently closed. The rest of the road, as one approaches La Concorde, is made up of houses with arcades and galleries. There are souvenir and antique shops.
